Artist Gardener in Residence
We have invited Tracey Fahy to be The Grange Projects Artist Gardener in Residence as part of the 2024 In Residence programme when she will establish an artist garden.
Tracy is an artist gardener, based in London. She holds a BA in Fine Art and an MA in Photojournalism & Documentary Photography. Her work has been exhibited in art galleries and public spaces, in the UK and internationally, plus I’ve held artist-in-residence positions in a number of diverse institutions. Her path into horticulture has led to working in some high-profile gardens including Chelsea Physic Garden, Chiswick House & Gardens, Monet’s Garden at Giverny, RHS Piet Oudolf show garden at Hampton Court Flower Show, plus an historic garden in the Nanzen-ji monastery compound in Kyoto, Japan. She's completed formal studies with the RHS, an intensive course at the Research Centre for Japanese Garden Art & Historic Heritage (Kyoto University of Art & Design) plus forest garden design with Martin Crawford (Agroforestry Research Trust, Devon). Constantly searching for parallels between her practice and the garden, both of which are continuously shifting realms and a web of complex, interdependent entanglements, she weaves together garden history with counterculture, stories about individual plants, artists’ gardens and ecology.
