The Grange Projects welcomes applications from Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (non-white) artists based in the UK to apply for the 2026 Peut Guard Artist Award at The Grange Projects.

 

The Peut Guard Artist Award was established in 2023 by artist Eugene Macki MRSS. Its primary aim is to provide a supportive and enabling platform for artists who identify as Black, Asian, and Minority Ethnic (non-white) within the UK. By focusing on their artistic practice, the award seeks to help these artists gain visibility and recognition in the broader art community. We look forward to receiving your applications and celebrating the diverse talents and perspectives that enrich the UK's artistic landscape.

Residency Details

The successful applicant will join The Grange Project In Residence Programme, residing for 10 days (9 nights), 10 – 19 August 2026, and will join other artists as part of an immersive residency to focus solely on their practice without any prescribed outcomes. The Peut Guard Artist Award will cover all costs associated with the residency, although travel expenses will be the responsibility of the selected artist.

 

Application Process

Interested artists are invited to submit their applications via email. Please ensure your

application is formatted as a single PDF file and sent to tgprojects23@gmail.com with"The Peut Guard Artist Award" in the subject line. The application should include the

following elements:

  • · Your name, preferred pronoun, and contact details

  • · A statement outlining your reasons for applying for the Peut Guard Award (max 250

  • words)

  • · A short artist bio and CV

  • · Up to 4 lo-res images of your work

  • · A link to your website and/or social media

 

                 All applications must be submitted by 30 April 2026

The Grange Projects

The Grange Projects hosts integrated artistic activity at The Grange in Norfolk. Offered in the spirit of generosity and reciprocity by artist family Dr Nicola Streeten, John Plowman with help and advice from daughter Sally Plowman, Located in the village of Great Cressingham, Norfolk, The Grange was originally built as a rectory. This wonderful Georgian house is set in 10 acres of tranquil gardens and grounds. It is a beautiful and magical place offering simple, comfortable accommodation and work/studio space.

Facilities

The Grange offers an exceptional setting in nature to pursue your creative practice

alongside ours. Our vision is to create, facilitate and participate in a convivial and

generative atmosphere in which a key feature is a supportive, engaged feedback

process with fellow residents. You can expect to encounter an interesting mix of

disciplines and interests.

 

The Grange Projects provides:

• Access to outbuildings containing workshops with hand and power tools and

equipment including a kiln, studio spaces.

• A private room with a desk.

• Wifi in all rooms and throughout the house.

• All linen and towels are provided.

• Toilets, shower and bath are shared access.

• Use of the communal kitchen, a library with an extensive collection of graphic

novels and art books, and living room with workstations as well as access to the

extensive gardens and grounds.

• Meals: Vegan/vegetarian breakfast, lunch, dinner. All food allergies and needs

will be discussed in advance to ensure options for you.

• Breakfast and lunch will be provided for you to help yourself to.

• Hot drinks available for you to help yourself to throughout your stay.

• The evening meal will be communal and we ask for all guests to commit to

joining.

 

Accessibility

The Grange is a rambling old building, with no ground floor bedrooms or shower

facilities. If you have a physical or mental health condition please contact us to discuss

how we can best support you with your individual needs.

Transport

 

If travelling by car The Grange has many major roads within a reasonable

distance such as A11, M11, A1, A17.

The nearest train station is Downham Market we offer pick-ups from the station on

Mondays at 3.30pm and return transport on Saturdays or Sundays to arrive at

Downham Market at 11am. Travel to and from Downham Market station at other times will need to be arranged independently (there is no public transport and a taxi costs around £50 we can give you taxi numbers)

The Grange is a 40 min drive to Kings Lynn and a 10 min drive to Swaffham a small

town that has a full range of amenities; post office, pubs, doctor, chemist, supermarketetc. There are local bus services from Swaffham but access to a vehicle would be advisable for off site visits/meetings.
